Kunrig:The fire offering ritual

Brief introduction of Kunrig:

Kunrig is the biggest ritual offering in Bon tradition in terms of its
benefits, time taken for its performance and its cost.
Following are the five main Yidam (deities) involved in this ritual.
  • Shivai Lha Tsog (Peaceful group of deities)
  • Gyepai Lha Tsog(Group of enriching deities)

    ( Kunnang Chappa being main deties)
  • Wang Gi Lha Tsog (Initiation group of deities)
  • Drag Poe Lha Tsog (Wrathful group of deties)
  • Kusum Mai Lha'i Lha Tsog (Three bodies of fire deities)
    •  The benefits of each Yidam:

    1. Shivai Lha Tsog Purifies obscuration and accumulates merit.
    2. Gyepai Lha Tsog Prolong life span, brings name, fame, luck, money and overall prosperity.
    3. Wang Gi Lha Tsog Brings freedom in your work and decision and become more influential in the community.
    4.  Drag Poe Lha Tsog Subdues all the enemies and harmful spirits.
    5.  Kusum Mai Lha'i Lha Tsog has the power of  all the above four deities by integrating them in itself.
    • Kunrig ritual can be performed for everybody alive or dead. It can be done in three ways; brief, medium or elaborated one depending on one's financial capabilities.
    • Preparation for the detail Kunrig will take about three to four months and it costs approximately US $ 12,000. The cost will also depends on the qualities used for various material like gold, silver, brocade clothes, medicinal herbs etc for Kunrig.
